Powers of the President

As a change to Article 2, Section 2, I would remove the President's power to veto bills. This means that the President would no longer be able to decline bills passed by Congress. As a result, Congress would have much more power in the federal government. This is because of the system of checks and balances of power in the three federal branches of government. For instance, a check or balance the Judicial Branch has over the Legislative Branch is that it can deem laws unconstitutional, and a check or balance the Legislative Branch has over the Judicial Branch is that Congress can appoint federal judges. In this case, the Executive Branch (Led by the President) will lose some of the power it has over Congress. Since this power shifts over to Congress, it is possible that the United States may become more of a Parliamentary Regime (a bit like the United Kingdom), rather than a Presidential Regime. Another possibility is that presidential elections may become less important than elections for Senators or Representatives, since Congress will have so much more power and influence when passing laws, and people will value that more than the Presidents power. All in all, this would be a major unbalance in power for the federal government, since vetoing is such a major part of being president, and is done often. Congress would be more powerful, and more important in passing laws, since it won't need the Presidents acceptance to pass bills.
